| Are you formulating the rent on only 1st cutting? I know this year the area was exceptional for multiple cuttings. That drives rental costs down if you anticipate cutting more than once. Plus, the quality goes up with subsequent cuttings. I talked to a guy last year who was upset that a landowner wanted $40 an acre. Granted, it wasn't "good" hay, but I think it's kind of a stretch to ask a landowner to allow someone to rent their ground for less than the cost of the taxes let alone not having any investment in the ground. | |
