Back in the early 80's I got my Divemaster so I could help out with classes. I had helped out before that but it got to where the liability insurance would not cover and PADI required Divemaster card to assist Instructors so a few of us in the club got it.

Jayhawk Divers club started back in the 60's. I originally was certified by Midwest Diving Council instructors in 1968 (13 at the time), of which my older brother was one. Both my older brothers were divers back then. Double hose regulators, no submersible pressure gauge and no BC's. Them was the days diving was a sport instead of an industry. LOL
