Serious answer to your question? Little kids need to see the teacher’s face. Need. Ask an actual teacher if you aren’t in a family of teachers. Or ask any parent of children. 90% of communication is nonverbal.

Big kids, a teacher could wear a mask and an assistive microphone/speaker. It’s a lot harder to effectively teach that way, but it is possible. College/HS, it can be done. With kids that don’t have certain special needs. We have long moved away from auditory processing as the primarily learning style into a visual scheme, but it is possible.

I remember the directors of V for Vendetta looked around for a while until they found Hugo Weaving because hardly anyone could act in a mask - it was too difficult for even professional actors to adequately convey the message solely by voice and body language. Verbal cues and expressions were so automatic and essential for nearly all actors that they just couldn’t do it in a mask.

Farmers go crazy when ‘society’ doesn’t understand the many unique things a farmer needs to know, or ridicules society for not knowing them. Well, same for any other job, including teaching. I realize this doesn’t fit a convenient narrative but hey, life is complicated.
