You gotta step back from edge my friend. It'll be ok. "Sustainable" can mean whatever to whomever. It's literally just marketing. If people want to buy food that conforms to their definition of "sustainable" who cares? Suppose to be a free country? Think we all gotta dial back the hyperbole just a tad.

I disagree when you say, "Sustainable can mean whatever to whomever."  (That sounds like "Post-Modern" philosophy. i.e. you can have your truth and I can have my truth...even if these truths are antagonistic!)

No, words do have meanings. That is why we have schools and learning.  We may at times have to clarify nuances etc, but it's definitely not "whatever to whomever" as you state:  English Language Learners Definition of sustainable. : able to be used without being completely used up or destroyed. : involving methods that do not completely use up or destroy natural resources. : able to last or continue for a long time.
