I have put 4600 miles on a pioneer 1000 5 seat  in 4 years. Have not had any problems.
the transmission is much better than belt drive (it’s quiet) and as far as service i don’t think that it is hard to get plastic covers off to get to oil filter, you tilt bed up for access. The engine does put  out some heat, but on a 90 degree day what would you except. I put full windshield on in winter and take it off when it warms up in spring. 
I would not hesitate a second to buy another one when this one needs replaced.
