They're all grass around here, most are grazed by sheep I think. They'd never be allowed to do it on bare dirt, it would wash out. I've heard the grass production can be as good or better with the shade (if the panels are high enough). The economics are "greenwashed" just like everything. maybe better than concrete and retaining ponds or mowing.
