It helps when you never really miss summer rains. I've seen way to many summer storms travel across northern iowa and Minnesota while we are stuck out here for weeks or months with nothing.

*in 2012, after a dry spring and june (but catching a rain here and there), we went 6 weeks without a drop in high heat. Crop insurance said we were the worst area he'd seen. In 2013, after 30 inches of may/june rain, I planted my last beans on July 4. They never saw a drop of rain until after labor day...70 days...some neighbors went 77 days without a rain. This year there are farms that have seen less than a half inch in the last 5 weeks.
