Not exactly comparable because barley is always dryland and corn is irrigated. Corn is typically 25+ ton and barley is usually 10. This year we have 2000 acres of barley/peas that are going to do close to 15 if we don’t get hailed. We only do the acres that I feel we have very good control of weeds ect. Usually we find when establishing alfalfa it works best for us without a nurse crop but we have done it in the past with good results. We always have enough to pile I’ve wondered about a bagger but I think it would slow us down to much.
