I think +1.

It’s pretty clear that strategy isn’t set behind closed doors in a centralized controlled setting.

It’s advisor gladitorial combat and whoever is able to grab enough media attention to gather a following sets the tone. It’s the policy version of being a Kardashian - a proposed policy is maybe possibly the new policy because the media and public is taking about it - or maybe not, if the public hates it.

There is a certain populist genius to this, even if it makes the principles- and rules-based world and bureaucratic order quiver in their boots. Populism is one step away from mob rule. Mobs love to build up and then tear down heroes. The genius of the current president is that he is able to surf a frenzied wave for an incredibly long period, and that he has so far been able to rebuild that frenzied wave at will (at least until Tulsa).

From a commodity marketing perspective, it’s probably a great time to make sure our lobbyists and check-offs are flush with cash to be the squeaky populist wheel.
