Gettysburg, PA | So ever since we moved to this place, I've been meaning to replace the wood paneling that was used (1970) in the garage with dry wall to bring it up to code. Finally started the process. Only part of the garage adjoins the living quarters of the house. About half of it actually. The other half is exterior porch and, well, exterior. The portion that is common wall to the living quarters was insulated with fiberglass insulation with no backing paper. No obvious mold issues but I'm guessing that the paneling wasn't exactly holding in moisture, I think. So, two questions, 1) should I replace that insulation with backing paper to the house side and 2) I want to insulate the rest cause I don't think it can hurt, so, should I use paperless since there isn't a "warm side" or use insulation with paper backing facing the garage? Thoughts? No, I'm not going to spend the money on spray in foam insulation, just not worth it.
