And you have to wonder if/how property taxes were addressed.
This is a thought from me also, pretty sure property taxes should be prorated thus rent considered.
I would think the ideal time to sell would be within a month of the new year, ideally near Jan 1. Just for keeping simple books and avoiding thorny issues like this.
