Cedar Rapids, Iowa | As Jacob mentioned, I noticed that iTC receivers seem to send extra data out the serial port along with the NMEA data. Unfortunately the extra data doesn't get followed by a carriage return like normal, so it gets put on the same "line" as one of the NMEA sentences. Depending on how the receiver software parses that data, it could be causing you this problem. I personally check the checksum on every line coming in, and if that fails, I ignore the data. I was getting a lot of checksum failures out of the iTC, so I captured some data to hyperterminal to see what was going on. I was seeing the extra data about once every 5 seconds for a while. In my case, it was coming ahead of the GGA string, so some of the GGAs would fail. The number of satellites in use is one of the values in the GGA string.
I still have that data capture, so if the programmers want to look at it to see what the iTC spits out, send me an e-mail.
