I'm curious about the oil depletion allowance. How does it work? What happens when the oil company fracs and "discovers" more oil in an oil well than they estimated previously? Does it just give them more oil to write off in the future or do they have to go back to the depletion allowance they previously took and revise their numbers?
I think it's time it stood on its own- oil that is!
