Central ND | Puff, you are not alone. My wife and I have been trying to get something started. FSA wouldn’t even talk to us unless we were willing to borrow ourselves bankrupt and lose our home to them. We are definitely starting slower, but we are loosing enough on paper to pay off our bank loan and hopefully expand our flock a little this summer.
Meanwhile, my employer, who is a substantially sized operation that can borrow millions from a bank with a couple phone calls, gets all sorts of “assistance.” It’s starting to get under my skin that we are not worthy of government “assistance”.
I don’t see much of any of this ag stimulus helping out anyone in the long run. It will help with the short-term pain, but market prices aren’t going to rise and inputs/rental values won’t go down because of it. Possibly just the opposite. Meanwhile the value of our dollar is going to drop even more because they have just diluted the value of the entire country by trillions of dollars again.
