Have heard of guys around here doing it with mixed results. There is a variety of light reds that stands better than others but I forget the name.
I used to direct cut blacks which are obviously are whole different animal, but I used Flexxifinger crop lifters and an air reel and got by ok. This was with a 620f on cultivated ground (organic).
If you could roll ground after planting and be prepared to add lifters close to harvest I think that’s the way I would go.
