So it costs about $55/cwt to process a fat steer.

I must be really dense this morning. So if their break even is $165 per Garvo how can the $55 be profit? Or is the box beef market at $220cwt on a live basis? They paid $110, it must cost them something to cut the steer, right?


Sorry bud - - - - you have it totally bad ass wards.

The $55/cwt is sticking in their pockets when everything is settled.
The $110 covers buying, cutting, transport, plant - - - - everything.
When they pay the $100/cwt they make money on what they don't pay you for - - - - that's why they can make money even when they tell you that they're losing money.
