So two questions come to mind.

Will we see packers bid less for the cattle now that they know we have a floor of $121, as it will take some of the negotiating power that we have? They won't have a penalty for bidding less unless they really think someone is going to crack down on them with price gouging.

Should I dump my puts that I have if this thing passes congress? Doesn't really pay to keep them if this is going to pass and i can make some money off my puts before I sell the cattle.

I agree this is not how to go about fixing the problem. Will it help my situation out yes, but what about next year when these packers play the same game again? Why doesn't the government stand up to these monopolies? Are they getting money to stay quite?
