WC IL | Our local grocery started putting limits on mid-week last week, like 1 package of TP, a gallon of milk, 2 loaves of bread, etc. This is a small mom and pop place that we trade with a lot. A high percentage of the people shopping were folks who normally drive 40 miles to the big box places, who were out of everything. Bride was there this morning and the owner, who we are friends with, said to go ahead and get 2 gallons of milk, since that was our normal purchase. Guy behind her, with 11 packs of TP in his cart, when there was a sign clearly saying limit of 1, threw a huge fit. Owner informed him that it was the first time he thought he had seen him in the store in 5 years, and we were regular customers, and it was his store, and he could do as he pleased.
It was great to know he appreciates our business, and we tell him regularly that we appreciate him keeping things going locally. He is near retirement age, and I'm sure when he quits the store will be gone. | |
