You mention the Champ. I've got more than a few hours in 7ACs & newer derivatives. 

Are you suggesting the 7AC will need ads-b? Most won't.

As for "current rules" causing expense, I'm sure we all realize by now that whatever it costs to fly, own, equip an airplane, it's going to be much more in 10 years. It just keeps going that way. Blame it on whoever/whatever we want. I guess right now the scapegoat is drones, but 45 yrs ago there were no drones. But suddenly squeeling Starlighter transponders became mandatory. Added about another $3-400 to the cost of owning a straight-tail 182. At first you could fly with 64 code xpdrs, then progress & regs eliminated them & a few years later you needed one to fly in to most larger airports. When I got my IR, it was optional to file with a xpdr. Now look.

Today your scapegoat is drones. You might have to pick a new one 10 yrs from now.

Just wondering, have you ever considered owning or flying a drone?
