southern MN | Yea, I poked at it a bit with the Internet turned off. More so we had a conversation while I was poking.
I/we decided taking it somewhere might be a good idea.
If it were mine I would play with it, learn, and watch it. But, I don’t want to be responsible for someone else’s security. I know the crooks can place some pretty good surprises on that pop up a week or two later, and I wouldn’t sleep well wondering if I found everything for sure.
I could have wiped the drive and re installed new windows, but then hunt down all the drivers and so on, lot of time for me to invest.
Might be a better lesson for them to pay a pro.
I stongly suggested getting passwords changed and alerting the bank. You get some interesting replies to that, non-computer folk look at all this differently. I try.
