Pittsburg, Kansas | I've been using a cpap/bipap machine since around 1985 or so. Back then there were very few sleep study hospitals and I had to travel a ways to do it. Had another one done closer to home 15 or so years ago.
My latest machines (have 2, one for home and one for travel) basically figure out what I need without a sleep study. They are smart, but they do work best with some maximum and minimum parameters set, which I have needed to change since losing 100 pounds.
I don't need it nearly as bad since losing weight, but really I think I had apnea problems since a teenager. I used to think I was never getting to sleep when in high school, but I would see a different time on my clock. Looking back after my first sleep study, it was apparent I had been suffering for many years.
