Subject: operation

Pittsburg, Kansas
Wife said after my sleep study and they got the machine adjusted to my needs I was bouncing off the walls after just a few hours of good sleep. This was around 30 or more years ago.

My sister had some sort of operation where they modified that little flap that closes off when you eat or drink. Was supposed to help her apnia. She was one unhappy camper for quite a while after the operation as it was very painful to deal with while healing up. She said it helped a little, but not that much. This has probably been 20 years ago, so techniques may have improved since then. She had tried a CPAP but could not get used to the headgear and hose. A lot of people have that problem.

Wife also uses one, but her apnia is marginal. She can go several nights without it with no problem. Even better now that she has lost significant weight. But she will still use it pretty regularly as it does help her get better deep sleep.
