Pittsburg, Kansas | This is not medical advice or any advice at all, but more of just a question and thought process.
In my studies of the ketogenic diet I have ran across some statistics that show when the body is fueled on significant levels of ketones and less glucose the heart requires only 70% as much oxygen for optimal performance. If I recall correctly these results were found out in a metabolic lab under controlled experiments and I think were on performance athletes. So it may not apply at all to someone with a weak heart or lungs.
But it would seem to make sense that a person with limited capability to absorbe oxygen from the atmosphere through the lungs to supply body needs might benefit from lowering the needs in organs for oxygen levels.
Just speculating on my part. Could supplemental ketones via BHB supplements or MCT oil help?????
I don't know and am definitely not a doctor. Just friendly musings.
