Subject: RE: saturated fat

As I've said, I've thought ever since the 60s/70s that this is why Eskimos put so much time in gathering blueberries. Just my hunch, of course. But, the carbs in the blueberries would have enabled them to store more calories from the often fatty food that was their normal diet. And, in that extreme cold in the arctic, the people relied on the fat stored in their bodies for survival in the winters. I remember calm days up there when the temps were just below zero and the natives would be out in shirtsleeves. The Eskimo games they would hold every year were often based on how much pain the contestants could stand. This was directly related to things like sitting absolutely motionless at a seal breathe hole in the ice in conditions where you wouldn't think anyone could survive. Every so often I saw temps in the 65-70 range below zero. Fat is very much a necessity in those conditions.
