Subject: Bit of a rant. Why is RTK so expensive????

Central Ohio
So I realize that initially, companies had to recoup their R&D costs. But now? It is not the hardware that costs!!!

Take the Trimble EZG 500 for example or some of the Deere equip. As far as I can tell, all that is needed is an unlock code to open access to RTK and Omni corrections. That means all the hardware is already in the "cheap" EZG 500. (I know you get a L2 antenna when unlocked to Omni)

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Seems to me that someone needs to come out with a reasonable RTK product at a reasonable price making a reasonable profit and undercut the market.

Maybe I am missing something, but $15000+ per vehicle not including base station or subscription is still not cheap in my book no matter how many acres of corn and soy you farm.
