 I haven't been sick yet so have no direct experience. They actually make a version of it with some kind of decongestant or antihistamine (not sure which) included in the formula. I saw it at the local drug store but just bought the regular formulation.

At the least, the salt spray should help loosen up things. I've used the old squeeze bottle type, and I never could get enough of the liquid far enough to do much good. This stuff will fill you up, which helped loosen up a lot of the post-op crud.
