NS Canada | Checking on a herd today, last seen them Sunday and they were fine. They didnt want to come when called today but eventually did. One calf stayed laying down, one cow slow coming. Went to wake calf up and had a hard job waking it up, it eventually got up and acted confused then ran off when it clued in... thru fences into some timber.
Cow is normally lively, and wont let you real near her, but she won't even respond to you pushing on her now. Found another cow tits up in a gully and others still missing in some wood land. Almost seems like they are blind and walking thru fences.
Also observed calf grinding its teeth. It must see a little bit, as it doesnt walk straight into trees.
Lead poisoning comes to mind, but no sign of any source of that yet. Ton of buttercups in these pastures, but that's nothing new. Good stream of water runs thru, beavers upstream - but again nothing new there.
Any ideas? Waiting on vet to arrive.
