Schochoh Ky | We have raised a 48x48 tobacco barn and a 50x100 post frame building. We jack them with used semi dolly jacks. We cut angle iron and lag bolt to post where top of dolly will fit up to post snug. We placed them on every other post.Just started cranking. We dig down beside the 6x6 on one side and slide in the skab post . The trick will be , you will have to bolt the new post to the old one before you get it up 4 feet , assuming your building is in the ground 3 feet.It is a pretty simple job . Just remove the angle iron and relag it after you run out of jack. You want to jack like 6-8 turns and go around the building or have enough people to man each jack . I would attach the scab at about a foot left in the ground. The tobacco barn was much heavier and we placed jacks under gurters. We cut eight inch well caseing to different lengths, starting with what it took to reach the bottom of gurts, then cut more at foot length , longer , to rejack the second go.Only remove one jack at a time , when reconfiguring. | |
