Subject: What else is going on in the home?

While the games are going on in one room, in a different room does someone streaming videos - another huge download consumer?

Your pipe is like a garden hose - you started out with a 1/4" diameter, and have moved up to 1/2" - but you can only get so much water through that hose.

Since you're using the ISP's router, and your mentioned WiFi, I would move up to a MESH router system. There are some good ones out there - Eero seems to be one of the best; Orbi is also popular. I have heard the Google MESH can be a beast to wrangle. Before investing, make sure you can use off-the-shelf routers. If your new ISP is cable or fiber-optic to the house, you may be severely restricted. Check with your ISP's web-page(?) or tech support for recommendations.
