Discs make horrible compaction here if it’s worked at all wet, which is about the only time when we used to do tillage. 32k is also plenty of plants, it’s not uncommon for me to hit 200bu at 25k, gives a little less residue to work with.

When we ran a 893 Deere head we would go over some fields with the batwing mower, it helped some but wasn’t as good as a chopping head. We followed with a white 445 and that seemed to work as good as anything at the time. Should be able to find one of those pretty cheap
