I tried to shop local today. I need a good garden hoe. Local hardware store had a little one with a four four foot handle, farm supply store didn't have any! Amazon here I come.
I think this is the main reason for people shopping at big box stores and the internet. You can find what you need without running all over the place burning up gas and your time. I feel bad for the smaller retail stores but it's the case of being out capitalized like so many businesses including farming.
