western iowa | I actually got a compliment, sort of, on my 4450. Blew a hose up under the hood last evening while discing a little with it. Hydraulic oil was spraying all over the engine and had to shut it down quick. In my frustration I called the JD dealer to come out and help fix it. They were too busy, but talked to the main mechanic that has been working on them for over 40 years. He said what he thought it was and that it would be fairly easy to fix once I got the hood lifted up. I told him I was worried it would start on fire with the oil spraying on the manifold. His response, “Oh god, don’t burn up a 44! I don’t care if you would burn up any of this newer stuff, but not a 44!” Made me feel a bit better and yes, I did get the hose off and will get a new one made this morning. Then tractor will get a bath. Be safe out there! | |
