Subject: RE: Raised garden bed?

Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska
A tote with 30” of soil would work well. Could get by on 24” probably.
If your soil is heavy or clay type put some sand in it. Also a good time to mix in some compost or manure.
Anything will work in raised beds except large vining crops like watermelons or pumpkins. I guess they could work but kind of defeats the purpose of using raised beds.
We relay crop on raised beds. Lettuce, radishes, early then interplant cucumbers or tomatoes in between rows then take out the lettuce and radishes.
You can raise a lot of stuff in a small area and having the garden on raised beds makes it a lot easier than bending over to the ground. Also, you never walk on the beds.
