EC SoDak | I can’t fathom what’s going on south of me, heartbreaking for sure. I remember some trips down to Omaha in 2011 when it was hell and I’m told it’s much, much worse this time around.
Sioux Falls is up in arms with the flooding last week. Currently, they are trying to warn them they haven’t seen anything yet compared to what will likely happen this weekend and next week. If the warmth confirms, with a broad area north of them with 5-10” of water in the snow, the streams, Big Sioux, James, etc are going to be sending a lot of water down to the Missouri to what are already disaster zones.
On a more local note, what will be interesting to see play out is that ditches are beyond full of snow and ice, culverts are plugged and will likely create flash flooding in areas that don’t deal with it.
Case and point, where does all the water go with this going on?
