Ive built a couple, but they were custom jobs. The nice thing is youre able to mix and match parts and get exactly what you want. But IMHO its much cheaper to buy one from a reputable manufacturer, and there are several that build really good plain jane M4 clones. Im not sure you could buy all the parts and assemble one for what companies like S&W and Ruger are selling them for.
