My dad passed a couple years ago, I remember mom being able to do certain things with his accounts that she wouldn't have been able to at a much larger national bank chain. Not all banks are very understanding of the situation. Would ask his family how they want it made out, might be some going back and forth on some things and they should all be in agreement. If they start fighting over it you might have problems...
With that in mind I'm not that great with legal/financial advise so could be totally wrong here.
I don't remember how any checks were handled shortly after he passed but some things should change once they see a death certificate. | |
