Did you break the little tab out, that’s between the 2 brass colored screws?

Edit: Since you have both a red and black, I’m going to assume you want the receptacle half switched, correct? In order for this to work, you need to flex the little tab back and forth a couple times, to break it out. It connects the two screws, and this the two halves, of the receptacle together. If one of your wires (red or black) is hot all the time, and that tab is still in place, there’s no way to turn one half of the receptacle off.


I did not break any tab out.. That makes sense and I'm sure that will take care of it.. Gonna go do it now.
