If it’s at the ground are you getting stalk rots? Are roots pulling out as it lodges? Are you using fungicide on the narrow rows?

My thoughts is you need to increase your fertility up to the yield level you are currently at. Essentially neEd to account for the extra bushels you are getting. Plus I would be planning on the fungicide pass to help battle leaf and stalk diseases that will cannabilize the plant. My thoughts with rain patterns last couple years is the plants are shutting down at black layer and becoming infected at that time as we begin getting torrential late season rains. Taller plants make corn harder to stand as well
