Subject: RE: 15" corn

Sioux County, NWIA
I wouldn’t hesitate to plant 20"or 15” corn for silage. My brother has been doing that for around 5 years now. He does a small scale test plot every year and one thing that gets checked is how his number planted in 20” rows does in 30” rows. The 20” rows are most years 1-3 tons per acre better. At worst they are the same. One thing about 15” vs 20” is that it is near impossible to follow 15” rows with a rotary corn head. 20” is okay.
