 SC MN | I think the location of that chimney is only going to cause trouble and is definitely the wrong way to vent that water heater. As you said when the wind is in a certain direction, (hitting that side of the house), its going to pressurize that chimney and push air back down the vent and possibly put out the pilot, but certainly prevent combustion fumes from escaping. That chimney has to be up on the roof so that winds can't pressurize it, and the vertical direction of the piping will help it draft properly. Best option if you don't want to put up a proper chimney is to install a power vent water heater as suggested. Those you can direct vent right out the side of the house. | |
