North Central Illinois | I liken cast iron pans to outhouses. The outhouse very useful and perhaps considered a luxury by some until indoor plumbing came on the scene. Same with cast iron pans. They were basically all we had until steel and aluminum cookware started to be mass produced. Now, you can still use an outhouse but they are unpleasant to use, messy, and require some attention. Much like cast iron pans. You can still use one but why? I get the feeling some people think they are really preparing food that is better by cooking it in a cast iron pan. Whatever floats your boat but I'll pass on the cast for cookware. | |
