Subject: RE: Warm Corn in Bin?

N.W. Illinois
Be aware that running the fans in the winter to cool off warm moist corn may cause the roof vents to frost up and the static pressure from the fans will then pop the roof out. On a bin that size it would be very bad. Make sure the door is open on the roof and open anything else that you can. Sunny days and above freezing will help prevent frosting.
You will have gobs of moisture coming out of the corn and condensing on the underside of the roof as well. Is there a gap between the roof and sidewall to allow the moisture to run outside? If not you will have moisture running down the inside of the bin. Just something to be aware of there is nothing you can do to prevent it.
If you do have a gap watch out for bigass icicles forming on the edge of the roof. I'm serious. These icicles will fall off the bin and could easily kill a person.
Good luck and be careful.
