After driving past an old junk pile site that's been here as long as I have (44 years) which was piled along side the lane in my grove, I decided last Spring to tear into it and clean it up. Have a heavy duty grapple bucket on my Skid that I used for pulling that mess apart. Much like Tallgrassneil I also found a wide assortment of junk stuff. Lots of old manure spreader floor chain, old well pipe, old woven wire, barbed wire and old equipment parts to who knows what. Threw any salvageable iron on my 16 foot dump box trailer and hauled it in for scrap iron. They gave me $130.00 a ton for it. An afternoon cleanup that yielded if I remember right $175.00 and that 50 to 80 year old junk pile eyesore is gone. I still have to dig a hole and bury the huge volume of rusted out tin cans though. That's another days work for this Spring. Next up is all the left over no longer used farm equipment that I have sitting. Hope the iron prices are still good!!
