I'm a GM person, I drive a Duramax but the half ton Fords are a nicer truck vs GM. If for no other reason, drive a eco boost. If they produce a turbo charged v8, I think diesels will be history. That is the torquiest little engine I've ever been around. Extremely impressive. I hate greasing the front end on my Gm, probably my biggest complaint.
