Subject: RE: Planting beans earlier

North Central Ohio
Depends on weather...... One year, I planted a bunch of beans on April 18 and 19. They all averaged 80!!!! The rest of the beans weren’t planted for 5 weeks later. They ran 60. 20 bu per acre will pay for a second planter fast. This year the first beans planted on May 8th ran 75-80. The beans planted on May 30th ran 60-65. About 6 years ago, I planted all my beans before the end of April. They ran 45. They were beautiful but mis-timed late August rain. The neighbors who planted a month later hit the late rains and beat me by about 10 bushels. Early planting beans pays most of the time in my experience.
