What was in my eye was very small, but I think fused in place due to it being a hot shard. Part of the problem was the nurse at the clinic just couldn't free-hand that operation with nothing more than some magnifying glasses. The ophthalmologist plopped me into a proper chair with a chin rest; literally the same rig you sit in so they can look inside your eye. He had it out in seconds.
