I managed to pick up a piece of steel while using a cut-off wheel and only wearing glasses. While it didn't cause much irritation in itself, I ended up spending my Sunday afternoon going to the walk-in clinic, letting them try to scrape it out with the end of an 18 gauge needle and then meeting the local ophthalmologist (and his dog) to be let into his office out of hours to get the shard removed from my eye. All said I was pretty lucky as it healed up in only a few days, but I'm still waiting for that bill to show up.
That could have been very easy to avoid if I had just worn my face shield (which was only a short walk away). | |
