East of Broken Bow | To add to what Doug said, they make nicely finished plumbing brackets/fittings that are designed to mount in the wall, and are designed to have PEX water lines attatched to them coming from the bottom, then have 90* bends with fittings that the shutoffs screw directly into. The one we got, is one assembly that mounts securely to a board in the wall, and incorporates both hot and cold inlets in one housing. Very neat, and a secure place for the shutoffs to mount.
That would be my suggestion. You'd have PEX tubing all the way to the shutoff, then the sink hoses would connect into them.
I would also route the drain into the wall if I could, simply because I hate to see perfectly good tile drilled into.
Also, anything with a compression fitting, or rubber gasket, doesn't need tape. Tape is pretty much for tapered threads.
