Southern IA | you'll knock the energy down adding in high protein forages and slow performance. Pretty tough to beat the energy content of DDGS and SBM you get when you are supplementing for protein for finishing. It all comes down to what your laid in feed costs are and associated feed shrink as well as your yardage costs, if you can afford the extra days on feed for the savings. DDGS would have to be $200+ before I started seriously looking for alternatives for finshing. Lots of benefits beyond just the protein in it. | |
