Beresford, SD
Little late to build inventory of home raised feed now, Plan for next spring, early seeding of oats. Direct seed alfalfa. Feed up more corn silage now. I'm presently feeding all "odd" feeds you asked about and then some. If I'd pick 3 feeds as a must have to replace byproduct feeds.....Corn silage, earlage and most importantly haylage. Oatlage, ryelage, triticale silage, and sorguhm Sudan silage makes a great rotation with corn when more acres are need for feed.....less soybeans. Feed presently inventoried on my feedyard are grass hay, dry alfalfa hay, haylage, corn stalks, sorguhm silage, Sudan silage, corn silage, earlage, dry corn. Sold all my beans this am....So, I guess I'm not feeding them.

Edit. I forgot oatlage and triticale silage....that makes 11.

A couple days ago, 5 head asked about how to keep a 9wt. Steer. Green.....thought about it. This would be a great situation for SBM. Full feed of corn silage, 2 pounds of alfalfa, 2 pounds of stalks, 1 pound of SBM, 1 pound of liquid feed. Should get a guy close. No distillers.
